Inkjet Transfer Technic
What you'll need:
- A wood block
- Acrylic paint
- A gel medium (can be Golden; I used a textil gel glue from Hobby Time, bought at Jumbo - Europe stores)
- A brush
- A picture you've printed
- Any kind of varnish for wood (can also be mod podge)- Acrylic paint
- A gel medium (can be Golden; I used a textil gel glue from Hobby Time, bought at Jumbo - Europe stores)
- A brush
- A picture you've printed
- Bone folder (you can use a credit card if you don't have one)
You can also paint the side you'll be covering with the image. I choose not to; I like the wood color.
Let it dry overnight.
Before you print your image (can also be a copy), remember that the image you'll be using will appear inverted.
So, if your image as anything written, or if it is a picture, invert the image using a program like paint, or any other image manipulation program you might have.
* If you have a laser printer, it will work too! The one I used is a laser printer :P *
Start by applying medium gel onto the wood block. I like to apply it on the paper too, before sticking it down, just to make sure I don't fail any spot. After getting the paper down, use a bone folder to make sure you do NOT create bubbles. Do it really smoothly, because the paper is humid, and it might rip.
Let it dry at least 24 hours.
When it's completely dry, put the wood block under running water. Smoothly rub off the paper using your fingers. Do not press down, or you'll create a whole on your image. I like to do this process in 2 parts: I do it once, I let it dry for a couple of hours, and I do it again.
Let it dry some hours.
Finally, u can apply varnish (or the mod podge) using your brush.
Since my wood block was slightly bigger than 2 of my images I went all over it with some acrylic paint (the one I used on the back).
I like how it turned out =)
